  • Denver-based outsourcer TeleTech may cut 550 jobs from its Niagara Falls, New York call center when a contract with Verizon expires.

  • Salt Lake City outsourcer Teleperformance USA is opening a 500 person call center in Silver City, New Mexico to handle customer service calls for Sprint. The new center will occupy a building used by another outsourcer, Stream International, which closed its 770 person center in 2003.

  • The European mobile phone company O2 is recruiting for 1,500 call center jobs in Glasgow, Scotland, aiming for 100 per month until March 2007. The center opened recently with 200 employees.

  • Dallas-based outsourcer Affiliated Computer Services will open a call center in El Paso, Texas employing 500 people in March.

  • FEMA has "demobilized" its temporary disaster call center in Chicago. The center operated from September 10 to December 14 to handle a total of 259,000 calls from hurricane victims in the southeastern United States.

  • German electronic giant Siemens will open a 215 million Peso ($4.1 million) 500-seat call center in Quezon City, Philippines. The center will handle IT help desk and customer service issues, and it will open in January 2006.
